AUDITION INFORMATION:
Hawkapella holds auditions at the beginning of every semester.
Audition information :To become a member of Hawkapella, you must attend one of our auditions held at the beginning of every semester and also be a part of another vocal ensemble within IUP's Choral Department such as Chorus, Chorale, or Chamber Singers. Not a part of one of those ensembles? Contact Dr. Ryan Beeken ([email protected]) in regard to auditioning for Chorale or Chamber Singers, or sign up for University Chorus on your schedule for the upcoming semester. Don't have enough room in your schedule for another class? With the approval of the department and your advisor, you do have the option to take ensembles for zero credit. What will I have to do in the audition? In your audition, you will have to perform a small section of a song of your choosing. (Please keep in mind that we are an a cappella group therefore not only should your selection be of the pop or rock variety, but you will also be unaccompanied for the audition.) In addition, you will also have to be tested on your vocal range through simple vocalises chosen by the Director/Assistant Director of Hawkapella. How do I know when auditions are? Keep your eyes peeled for our flyers posted in Cogswell Hall and various other locations around IUP at the beginning of the semester. PLEASE NOTE: That we only hold auditions at the beginning of every semester. For several reasons, we do not take on new members in the middle of the semester. |
